“Triple threat” blues/Americana singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Alex Ashley, will be embarking on a 15-city solo acoustic tour, from Seattle to San Diego, in support of the production of an upcoming new EP, as well as a groundbreaking new podcast, “The Tour Tapes”

(BELLINGHAM, WA) -- In May, Pacific Northwestern blues/Americana artist, Alex Ashley, will embark on a five-week solo acoustic tour that will take him down the West coast, from the briny, salt-swept soil of Seattle, WA, to the sun drenched boulevards of southern California.  The lengthy “Take What You Can Carry” Tour is in support of an upcoming studio effort, a long-awaited 6-song EP.

“Alex Ashley’s … songwriting takes you inside yourself and then out,” noted Zan Agzigian, producer at KPBX, Spokane Public Radio, “impressing the beauty and danger of the complex world we live in, the heart is best kept safe through lyrical wanderings… A singer-songwriter to watch for, and listen to in these days of ours…”

The tour also supports a project stemming from Ashley’s background in public radio: a forthcoming podcast called “The Tour Tapes” -- his latest undertaking in radio storytelling.  The Tour Tapes puts the story in the hands of independent touring musicians as they provide an aperture into life on the road through audio snapshots they record while on tour. Essentially, it is a “composite documentary”; one story told from many perspectives.

Alex Ashley: Compared to “a young Vince gill,” Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton and John Mayer, Alex “masterfully [weaves] the old with the new, [bringing]  fresh eyes and an old soul to the gritty realities of life and love lost,” said Dillon Honcoop, of the Cascade Radio Group. “With an unorthodox approach [speaking of his method of playing guitar upside down and backwards], Ashley delivers heartfelt vocals and wields his well-worn six-string to stir fresh reflection on the human condition in a way only honest American music can. And that’s what he makes - real music of the tortured and fiercely independent West, rooted firmly in the musical traditions of country and rock & roll.”  |  www.alexashley.org
